Their story
Thomas F. Breslin was a civil engineer and civilian contractor for the U.S. Army who was commissioned a Colonel at the outbreak of the Battle of the Philippines and helped position the defenses at Bataan. Captured after the fall of Bataan, he fell ill with dysentery and malaria during the Bataan Death March; hidden by his comrades and later nursed by a Filipino villager, he died on May 10, 1942 for lack of food and medicine. His remains were later reburied at Fort William McKinley (Manila American Cemetery), where his grave is maintained by the American Battle Monuments Commission.
